Health Insurance for International Students

Foreign students who have been staying in Taiwan for more than 4 months and have already been issued with a resident visa must hold the National Health Insurance, and pay NT$604 per month.OIEIE is the substitute office for charging the insurance.At the beginning of the 1st semester, students will be charged NT$3,954 (NT$659*6) for the September to February insurance. At the beginning of the 2nd semester, students will be charged of the same amount for the March to August insurance. (Please visit: http://www.nhi.gov.tw/english/index.asp for insurance details. The amount might be different according to the adjustment of fees of the NHIB.)In addition, we suggest exchange students to buy overseas insurance before their departure for Taiwan, especially for the first 6 months of their arrival.
