On Campus

Sung-tao Food Court

In the basement of the Sung-tao Girls Dormitory, there are more than ten food booths serving breakfast, lunch, and supper on weekdays. Here you have a wide variety of choices; you may order Chinese glutinous-rice dumpling, bean milk, or a tuna sandwich with a cup of milk tea. During lunch time, you may try buffet, or if you don't feel too hungry, you may take a bowl of beef noodle.

Sea-view Restaurant

Situated on the tenth floor of the Ching-sheng Memorial Hall, Sea-view Restaurant serves not only buffet but also a la carte. It is also an ideal place for faculty or staff gatherings. Here, while enjoying your food, you can appreciate the panoramic view of Tamsui at the same time by overlooking through the window at the beautiful scene that is composed of the Tamsui River, the Kuan-yin Shan (Mt. Goddess of Mercy), and the town of Tamsui.

Campus Cafeteria

The cafeteria is located under the Chueh-sheng Memorial Library, serving combination plates of Chinese food and Western food. Being almost in the center of the campus, the cafeteria offers a suitable place for faculty, staff, and students to have coffee or tea with desserts during break time or in the evening.

Campus Fast-food

Better known on campus as "little McDonald," the fast-food canteen serves sandwiches, burgers and soft drinks. During breakfast time, you may see long lines of students queuing up for the most important meal of the day.


Off-campus

Location: Shui-yuan Street

The street is on the rear of the university main library-the Chueh-sheng Memorial Library. The street is usually congested, especially during meal-time, because tens of eateries serving delicious foods scatter around this street and its alleys.

The Corner

Specialized in Italian spaghetti, the owner of The Corner is said to be a former chef of a hotel, so he uses native Italian ingredients and sauces in the spaghetti. The Corner provides only limited of spaghetti daily.

Chia-nan Buffet

The buffet restaurant is considered the most high-class among the eateries surrounding Tamsui campus. In addition to serving various foods, the restaurant is clean and hygienic. Chia-nan Buffet has won several "excellent" ratings in the annual review conducted by Tamkang University.

500cc

Open till 2:00 a.m., 500cc specializes in noodles, such as 'Ma-chiang' (sesami seed-sauce) Noodles, Chicken-shredded Noodles, and Pork-hoof Noodles. The quantity of each portion of noodles is big but its price is moderate.

Pa-kua Chan

Serving delicious combination plates, Pa-kua Chan has unique interior decoration, beautiful lighting, and comfortable ambience.

Lie's Szechuan Cuisine

Serving strong flavor and spicy Szechuan dishes, Lie's restaurant is most fit for small parties. Cooked rice is served free of charge.

Blue Stone

With its Oceanic ambience plus fragrant scent , the coffee house offers a unique place where you can spend the whole afternoon chatting idly with friends for less than NT$200.


Location: "University Town" Area

The "Han-lin Kuan" is usually called the "University Town." It is so called because the high-rise buildings in this area are occupied mostly by Tamkang students in addition to the Tamsui common citizens. Despite its deteriorating environment, many students still go there because this area, which also abounds with eateries, provide students with another option to eat.

A- kong Yen B.B.Q.

The eatery serves mouth-watering B.B.Q. duck. Most students order this Cantanese-style fast food to go, enjoying the good-flavored and juicy B.B.Q duck and pork.

Oxford

The two-story restaurant offers a nice place for gatherings. It serves delicious combination plates and changes its house specialty every other day.

Hsin Yuan

Hsin Yuan serves the most delicious dumplings around Tamkang campus.Each home-made dumpling is composed of different ingredients: shrimp, cabbage, etc.

Lau-chang Beef Noodle

It serves delicious beef noodle, dumplings with beef soup, and rice topped with mince pork.

39 Chinese Culture University Beef Noodle

It serves small bowls of beef noodle soup, which might be insufficient to be eaten as a main meal for some people.


Location: Ta-chung Street

Spring

It serves coffee, light meals and iced fruit juices.

Classical Rose Garden

Decorated with raw woods and classical coffee cups, the coffee house is a "heaven" for soft drinks with a few friends.

Alice

A good restaurant that has been reported by media, Alice serves European food, high-grade coffee, and well-recommended German pig leg. There is live music performance. Customers are required to take off shoes and put on slippers to enter the restaurant.

Dante

A chain-store coffee house, Dante is a semi self-help eatery and good for those who want to relax for an afternoon tea.


Location: Ta-tien-liao Area

Sino-Japanese Ho-fung Restaurant

The restaurant specializes in Japanese food and has won favorable ratings in the university food review.

Yi Ting Hsiang

The restaurant specializes in Chinese "dim sum." Its noodles and chicken soup are well recommended.

Ta-pao-ting

Located near the university's track, this restaurant is well recommended for its "Chung Pao Chicken" (chicken dice dipped fried with scallion).


Old Tamsui Street

The street is well-known for its historical sites and delicious local foods. Nearby the ferry-boat wharf are scattered eating houses and food stands, selling various local foods, like "A-ke", fish ball, fried shrimp rolls, etc. In addition, some restaurants and bakeries are often frequented by visitors, such as Wen-chou Dumpling, Shan Hsieh Chen, Hai-fong, Black Shop Sparerib and etc.
